Photography has been a passion of mine since adolescence. In high school, I discovered a passion for sports photography, basketball in particular. One of the most challenging sports to photograph, at least in the pre-autofocus days it certainly was! As a senior in high school, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to shoot NBA basketball, the Lakers, and all their opponents for an entire season plus playoffs... nearly 50 games.
Today I am focused on volleyball. One of the truest team sports there is in my opinion, and a very fast action, difficult to shoot sport. I have played and currently play volleyball, so I have a genuine appreciation for how difficult it is and how talented the players are. To try to differentiate myself from all the volleyball photographs out there I strive to capture the emotional side of it. The players' expressions before, during, and after a kill or block or save. It happens so fast high speed photography is the only way to capture it.
I use state of the art Nikon equipment designed to capture the moments in between the moments.
I liveĀ in Portland, Oregon. I have also lived in Chicago, and am originally from Los Angeles.
